Hiring Resources
The Strategic Priority Faculty Initiative [SPFI] provides temporary University financial support to academic departments to enable them to hire new, full-time, tenure-track faculty or continuing-eligible academic professional employees who advance UA’s cross-cutting innovations in equal opportunity, diversity and inclusion within higher education as outlined in the University of Arizona (UA) Strategic Plan. Funding is available for both hiring and campus visits. Read more and apply for funding at: http://facultyaffairs.arizona.edu/recruitment/SPFI
Proposition 107 Information
Proposition 107
There may be misconceptions that Proposition 107 prevents the UA from actively creating diverse candidate pools. This is not true. The University will continue to pursue diversity in full compliance with Proposition 107. The University’s hiring practices do not change under Proposition 107. Proposition 107 was adopted by Arizona voters on November 2, 2010, as an amendment to the Arizona Constitution. The amendment provides that the “State shall not grant preferential treatment to or discriminate against any individual or group on the basis of race, sex, color, ethnicity, or national origin in the operation of public employment, public education, or public contracting.” The University does not discriminate in hiring, and those practices remain unchanged. The University will continue to encourage and expect hiring committees to recruit a highly qualified, diverse pool of candidates as part of the hiring process.
